The ECAC-SIDA Executive Board recently announced the appointment of
Jill Olsen, Assistant Director of Sports Information at Johns
Hopkins, to the association's secretary position.
Olsen is in her third year as the Assistant Sports Information
Director at Johns Hopkins University, where she is responsible for
the coverage of 13 of the Blue Jays 26 varsity sports.
She began her career in sports information as a graduate student at
North Carolina State University. Olsen spent two years as a student
assistant in the NC State Media Relations office while pursuing her
master’s degree in sports management. While at NC State, she
worked at the 2002 and 2003 ACC Men’s and Women’s
Basketball Championships as well as, the First and Second Rounds
and the East Regional of the 2002 NCAA Women’s Basketball
Tournament. In addition, Olsen was the Media Relations Assistant
for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2002.
After graduating from NC State in 2003, Olsen landed her first
full-time job as the Associate Director of Sports Information at
St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. After two-and-one-half years
in Canton, she relocated to Baltimore and Johns Hopkins
University.
Olsen has been extremely active with ECAC-SIDA for the last several
years, having served on the Workshop Committee for the 2007
ECAC-SIDA Workshop in Baltimore, and on the association's Charities
Committee since 2006.
